Brush
Grab a soft pastel color - the precise color is up to you. Then, load a few grunge brushes and go wild. Make sure everything stays "soft". Do your brushwork right on your background layer - don't create a new layer for the brush work.
Then, click "Edit" and choose "Define Pattern". Name the pattern "Marble" and click OK.

Experiment with the background color - light colors will show off the drop shadow effect, but dark colors make it look more like marble.
